Differences Between Driveway Gates
Double-wing gates, as the name suggests, consist of two wings that meet in the middle when the gate is closed. These gates can be motorized or manually operated. The limitation depends on the specific variant. Swing gates require space towards the courtyard, while sliding gates need space on the sides. It’s important to note that the length of each gate element will require this corresponding space in the courtyard. If this space is not available, planning adjustments must be made.
For single-wing driveway gates, the same considerations apply. However, it’s important to keep in mind that the weight is significantly higher, requiring either manual muscle power or a motorized system to operate the gate.
Consultation is the Key to Success
Consultation is extremely important here, as not every gate can be used. As mentioned above, the weights of such gates can vary so much that the installation of the desired driveway gate may not be feasible.
It depends on the supports. A masonry post may no longer have the required load-bearing capacity. Here, it’s crucial to know the gate’s stop height to possibly make the installation work. Even professionals can make many mistakes here.

The exact measurement method is crucial. For example, a slope can run in two or three different directions. This alone presents a challenge when, for instance, a double-wing gate must align perfectly when closed.
